After logging into the Word Press dashboard, hover over the right side of the APPEARANCE module to bring up the drop-down menu. The first link in the menu will be THEMES. Click on the Themes link to bring up the MANAGE THEMES PAGE.

At the top of this page, the currently installed and active theme shown. Below that area, you see install themes but not active or themes are available. Now if you just installed WordPress software, you see the default theme that was included in the download. That will be your active theme.

Install Word Press Themes Tab:

At the top of the Manage Themes page, you will see a tab labeled INSTALL THEMES. If you click on that tab, the install page will come up. At the top of that page, you will find five links.

Search:-

This brings up the main search page where you can look for themes by the term, author name, or tag (keyword). WordPress have different option to search by color, layout, and size. This is where you will more than likely spend most of your time searching for the perfect theme.

Upload:

This link allows you to upload a theme from outside the blog software. If you conduct a Google search for WordPress themes, you will find many third-party themes that can be downloaded to your computer and then uploaded to your software.

Featured:

Featured themes are those that are popular and widely used. They are grouped together on the featured page for easy installation and activation.

Newest:

These are the themes that have recently been developed by Word Press and included in the database for you to choose from. Again, after you have your blog set up and you find a theme that you like better, installing a new theme will not delete your content. Although, it is always a good idea to back up your blog, which can be done with a Plugin.

Recently updated themes are best because in these theme some extra features added. Maybe the theme had a programming bug that made it hard to use.

After you have chosen a design, you can preview or just install the theme. Once the theme installed completely. You see a message if you want to activate it. When you click the activate link, it becomes your current theme. All others are moved to Available Theme area of the Manage Theme page. To return a theme to current, simply click the activate link again.
